Primary Responsibilities:

  • Programming, analytics, and data management for specialty group insurance products (dental, vision, life, disability, and supplemental health)
  • Review/test data and rate calculations for reasonableness, consistency, and completeness
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve questionable values
  • Deliver quality and timely results across multiple projects
  • Maintain process standards and controls
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) within Specialty Benefits Actuarial
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, economics, or similar discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel with VBA.
  • 2+ years of relational database experience using SQL with any of: MS Access, SQL Server and/or Oracle.
  • 3+ years of experience in the insurance sector building, running, and interpreting data models.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years in group specialty insurance
  • 2+ years writing database stored procedures
  • Experience in data mining and data transformation/manipulation
  • Experience working with Power BI, R and/or Python
  • Proficiency with SAS (Statistical Analysis System) 
  • Flexible and adaptable team player

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
