Position Summary:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing key business relationships in targeted markets. They are assigned customer accounts within a define geographic territory where they utilise their expertise on the organisation’s products and services to grow revenue and uphold customer satisfaction. They seek strategic opportunities by identifying, engaging, and developing new customers and growing the accounts of existing customers.

The Business Development Manager is recognised as an individual contributor with a specialised skill set. They work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. They demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop sales and marketing strategies and propose short range business plans. Sell products/services to accounts critical to the organisation in terms of sales volume or market share growth.

2. Works effectively with internal staff to perform due diligence on prospective commercial business opportunities and develop and implement pricing proposals for large, complex, often multi-year deals and contracts.

3. Act as primary point of contact and consultant for assigned customers. Drive revenue and customer retention by building consultative relationships. Initiate and develop productive client relationships in multiple functions (e.g. executive levels, R&D, in-licensing, production, procurement (sourcing), marketing, quality, regulatory affairs, etc.) with client companies at multiple levels.

4. Understand customer industry and business needs and offer unique and innovative solutions.

5. Work with customers to establish a strategic account planning process and agree upon performance objectives.

6. Coordinate internal resources to meet and exceed performance objectives and customer expectations.

7. Gather market intelligence to develop a plan for business growth by researching, qualifying, targeting, and capturing business opportunities.

8. Design, implement and manage online database resources to track and maintain business development pipeline data and associated activity.

9. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' experience or equivalent experience.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:

· Normal Office Environment. On occasion, may visit a laboratory and attend conferences/ tradeshows.

· Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.

· Mobility to occasionally alternate between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities.

· Requires ability to lift a minimum of 10-25 pounds and up to 40 pounds on occasion with assistance.

· Computers, phones, and standard office equipment.

· Travel up to 60% is required.
