As Associate Director, Actuarial Services at UnitedHealth Group, you will oversee complex actuarial projects that have strategic importance to our mission of helping people lead healthier lives and to help the health system work better for everyone. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage data, with formal quality assurance processes, for health actuaries (Regional, Leadership) and other internal customers such as Product or Underwriting personnel
  • Develop and innovate major actuarial pricing tools, including descriptive analytical dashboards and predictive analytical models using modern statistical learning techniques
  • Present results of sophisticated, technical work to less-technical audiences such as Regional Actuaries and Actuarial leadership
  • Perform analytical work within the context and domain knowledge of health actuarial science, which includes diligently documenting methodology consistent with Actuarial Standards of Practice (ASOP) #41
  • Provide training to empower more health actuaries to perform similar predictive analytics using modern technologies such as Python and R

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Career ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation
  • 5+ years of Actuarial experience
  • Extensive knowledge of concepts and methodologies in health care financing
  • Expert technical proficiencies: MS Office Suite, Python, R, SQL

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • Experience with Python Plotly / Dash and R Shiny
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot, and VBA

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
