We are looking for a personable, dynamic, and highly motivated Director of Sales – West to join our team and take Swoon to the next level! Your primary goal is to grow the total number of Swoon accounts and increase sales, through creating and building strong relationships with key retailer, distributor, and broker partners.


Your focus will be leading all aspects of the sales cycle from beginning to end: identifying opportunities for growth, calling on key customers, expanding distribution, fostering deep relationships at all customer levels, setting promotional plans, building partnerships, managing your forecast and trade spend, and reporting back on performance. You will be the face of our brand with key customers and create partner loyalty through excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute the Annual Business Plan for the Western U.S.
  • Deliver quarterly/annual volume, revenue and trade spend objectives. Monitor and report on actual performance vs. forecast
  • Establish effective KPIs to support volume and revenue growth objectives.
  • Manage all Broker & Merch company relationships in the Western U.S. and develop a KPI scorecard to measure their impact
  • Develop, cultivate, and grow high-level relationships with all key retailers, category managers, account teams, distributor partners, brokers, and merch teams to transform them into true Swoon brand partners.
  • Successfully close white space by onboarding new retail chain accounts.
  • Expand Swoon assortment with existing chain accounts
  • Optimize our route-to-market with key DSD distributor partners in strategic markets
  • Coordinate frequent market visits to remain top of mind with all distributor, broker and merchandising partners.
  • Develop and implement customer specific promotional plans for all retail and distributor customers in the West Region while staying within trade rate targets.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to develop effective Shopper Marketing/Field Marketing programs with all key retailers
  • Communicate monthly forecast updates and participate in S&OP meetings to guide the production plan and supply chain needs for the West Region.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly sales calls to highlight successes, discuss challenges, and understand company-wide strategies.




Who You Are:


  • A team player who enjoys the hustle of a high growth company and the satisfaction and reward that comes from successfully building a disruptive brand!
  • 7+ years of CPG sales experience in the Natural Products Industry (beverage preferred)
  • Experience working closely with all West Region Retailers, UNFI & KeHE, and DSD distributors
  • Proven track record in meeting/exceeding sales objectives and overall market development
  • You have extensive knowledge of the entire retail landscape in this Region
  • You have an established network of professional relationships
  • You have experience managing broker partners
  • You have experience managing a sales team
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Natural storyteller and educator, with an ability to bring the Swoon brand to life
  • Excellent communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • You are independent and reliable – you know how to take direction and run with it
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to come up with new ideas, execute, and report back on results with thoughtful recommendation

Who You Will Work With:


  • SVP Sales: you will report directly to the SVP Sales & Planning
  • Sales Team: we are a collaborative crew at Swoon and we truly understand what teamwork means. Our Sales team across the U.S. works together closely and we all share in each other’s successes!
  • Marketing Team: you will collaborate with our Marketing Team; most notably our Field/Shopper Marketing Manager to support key retailers in your region – through strategic promotional planning, demo/sampling programming, distributor support, POS, in-store displays, and more.
  • Finance Team: you will be managing the Trade budget for the West Region and will work collaboratively with our Finance Team on all trade related items
  • Future Team: we will look to you to help grow and recruit a team of Key Account Managers and Area Sales Managers within your region, as our growth requires


Additional Information:


  • Location: West U.S.; CA preferred. Remote role
  • Travel: Based on company needs; approximately 25% travel
