Awesome opportunity for an Environmental Engineer to join a vertically integrated global chemical/materials company at their refinery operation. We are moving quickly as there is sure to be a lot of interest in working with this multinational company! Think sunshine, white sandy beaches, low cost of living and great saltwater fishing, as the position is located on the beautiful gulf coast in TX! You will work closely with the HSE Manager to keep plant employees trained and the operation in compliance with state, federal laws.

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineer/Environmental affairs, Chemistry, Biology or related field
  • 3+ years of related experience in a manufacturing or chemical, refinery or manufacturing operations.
  • Experienced with environmental and/or RCMS audits.
  • Must have experience working with/ negotiating with governmental agencies
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • Experience in ISO14001 is a plus.
  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma is a plus
  • Professional certifications are a plus.
  • Advanced degree is a plus.

Job Requirements:

Duties / Tasks

  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, etc. inspections of various environmental sensitive areas.
  • Provide expertise to the plant in multiple media (Air, Water, and Waste)
  • Arrange and track the disposal of hazardous, solid, and liquid wastes.
  • Performs the environmental review for routine projects and Management of Change (MOC)
  • Track production process output and calculate emission data for compliance with facility air permits
  • Prepare periodic regulatory compliance reports as required.
  • Maintain regulatory required plans as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of permit applications as required.
  • Assist in regulatory inspections and environmental compliance audits and follow-up as required.
  • Assist with projects for environmental equipment additions or replacement
  • Conduct environmental awareness training as required.
  • Attend environmental training sessions as necessary to maintain skills to meet primary function.
  • Identify environmental improvement opportunities
  • Interact with federal, state, and local government representatives to foster and maintain sound relations.
  • Organize and maintain all necessary documentation for the above items.
  • Remain current with environmental regulations and technology
  • Provide technical input to project design to avoid or mitigate adverse environmental effects
  • Identify cost-effective solutions for technical and regulatory environmental issues.
  • Participate in incident investigation, mitigation, root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Manage agency reporting and programs to achieve compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare and submit reports to various agencies as required.
  • Submit applications for new and revised permits.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with regulators and participate in facility inspections.
