The Grants Specialist reports directly to the Associate Director of Research and Sponsored Programs and is responsible for grant administration including coordinating pre-and post-award related activities on behalf of faculty and staff in all Colleges of Midwestern University on the Glendale, AZ campus. The Grants Specialist will support Biomedical Research, educational and other important initiatives by processing proposals or award amendments, communicating with sponsors as needed, and serving as the liaison for internal and external subcontracts and sponsors. The Grants Specialist will be distinguished by their expertise in grants and contracts administration and be seen as a subject matter expert in grant administration. This position supports the Glendale, AZ campus, but may be located on either the Glendale, AZ or Downers Grove, Illinois campus. This is a hybrid position that offers a mix of work from home and in the office.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree is required with at least 3 years of pre-or post-award grants experience for a university, federal, corporate, foundation, and or professional agency. The individual may also have a Masters degree in Research Administration with at least 1 year of pre-or post-award grants experience. This individual must have excellent attention to detail, be highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines. Experience in scientific manuscript writing and research administration desired.
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). This individual must have strong technology skills to process grants using an electronic research administration platform. Experience with electronic research administration software (e.g. InfoEd Global) preferred.
Ability to collaborate with different levels of the institution or organization, both internally and externally. Knowledge of policies and regulations governing federal funding and accompanying compliance issues. Knowledge of editing rules and guidelines. Knowledge of contemporary writing styles. Knowledge of research methods and funding sources. Skill in designing resource tools, materials and presentations for writing proposals.
