Job Summary

Rhythm seeks a highly motivated and experienced clinical research physician to join its team and lead the Clinical Development function based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. With multiple ongoing and planned clinical trials in rare genetic and acquired diseases of obesity, we seek a strong and dynamic leader to ensure quality and meaningful data generation and reporting. This physician will have primary responsibility for oversight and alignment of all clinical development activities, including regulatory interactions. This position has high visibility and will interact with multiple cross functional colleagues and leadership across the organization.

Rhythm values the face-to-face interactions we have while in the office and currently operates in a hybrid work model for Boston-based roles.

Principal Responsibilities And Duties
  • Responsible for accomplishing clinical development corporate goals
  • Provide scientific/clinical expertise and oversight, and ensure quality of all clinical activities, including: design, conduct, interpretation, regulatory submission and reporting of clinical trials and generated data
  • Manage Clinical Development team of Medical Directors to assure adherence to intended timelines and achievement of clinical trial and program goals while ensuring quality in accordance with FDA, EMA, GCP, and ICH guidelines, as well as to support further development of professional skills, expertise and quality mindset
  • Provide strategic input into the development of Rhythm’s key assets in selected patient populations
  • Align clinical development strategy and plans with senior management, and operationalize aligned plan
  • Oversee medial monitoring of clinical trials, ensuring potential safety concerns and/or adverse events are identified and addressed appropriately
  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including clinical, medical, regulatory, biostatistics and other cross functional colleagues, as well as relationships with key investigators and key opinion leaders
  • Liaise with clinical site staff and Investigators to ensure optimal Sponsor-Site relationships
  • Act as subject matter expert on clinical and medical strategic initiatives and provide internal training as needed
Qualifications And Experience
  • Substantive working knowledge of drug development process, regulatory policies and procedures
  • MD degree with 12+ years of relevant experience in drug development within Pharma, Biotech, or CRO pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry
  • Experience and expertise in obesity/metabolic diseases and/or rare diseases is preferred
  • Substantive working knowledge of drug development process, regulatory policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and operate within a matrix organizational environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with strong ability to inform and influence
  • Innovative and critical thinker, with courage to tackle tough challenges and ask bold questions
  • Quality mindset, with attention to detail and continuous process improvement
  • Committed to advancing scientific understanding to improve patient lives
  • Ability to travel as necessary (up to 20%)
This role is based out of our Corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm’s operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs.
