As a manager within our network contracting team, you'll guide the development and support of Provider Networks as well as unit cost management activities through financial and network pricing modeling, analysis, and reporting. Develops the provider network (physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, ancillary groups & facilities, etc.) yielding a geographically competitive, broad access, stable network that achieves objectives for unit cost performance and trend management, and produces an affordable and predictable product for customers and business partners. Evaluates and negotiates contracts in compliance with company contract templates, reimbursement structure standards, and other key process controls. Establishes and maintains strong business relationships with Hospital, Physician, Pharmacy, or Ancillary providers, and ensures the network composition includes an appropriate distribution of provider specialties. *Employees in jobs labeled with ‘SCA’ must support a government Service Contract Act (SCA) agreement. Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts in compliance with company templates, reimbursement structure standards and other key process controls with a concentration in FQHC/RHC’s statewide for Florida
  • Manage unit cost budgets, target setting, performance reporting and associated financial models
  • Guide development of geographically competitive, broad access, stable networks that achieve objectives for unit cost performance and trend management
  • Ensure that network composition includes an appropriate distribution of provider specialties
  • Manages the Contracting Liaison Relationship for WellMed FL/Optumcare and the FL UHN local market(s) to support the critical business relationship for UnitedHealthcare
  • Support Government Risk Contracting Manager/Director to achieve Risk contracting goals and objectives for all Government LOB’s
  • Provide day-to-day management of Risk contracting activities, including project management, problem resolution and other activities to drive to Capitation contract execution/maintenance
  • Work effectively across lines of business and across the organization including interactions with HCE, LOB Leaders, and Capitation Operations
  • Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems 
  • Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analysis 
  • Coach, provide feedback and guide others
  • Serves as a resource to others

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in the health care industry
  • 2+ years of experience in a network management-related role, such as contracting or provider services
  • In-depth knowledge of Medicare Resource Based Relative Value System (RBRVS)
  • 2+ years of experience in performing network adequacy analysis
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualification:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 3+ years experience with large provider contracting including development of product pricing and utilizing financial modeling in making rate decisions
  • 2+ years of experience in fee schedule development using actuarial models
  • 2+ years of experience using financial models and analysis to negotiate rates with providers
  • Experience in health plans with a demonstrated focus on Capitation/value based contracting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under time constraints
  • Solid interpersonal skills, establishing rapport and working well with others
