The Client Team Operations Senior Analyst is the partner to the Client Executive/Sales Executives and their leadership teams to drive new business growth. The Client Team Operations Senior Analyst will work collaboratively with their assigned Client Executive/Sales Executive(s) to support all stages of the sales cycle and manage internal sales operational processes. This role is essential to ensuring the Client Executive/Sales Executives are set up to have the strongest possible set of sales activities and outcomes.  It is also crucial in maintaining effective communication channels across departments and providing outstanding customer support to the internal sales clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

Growth and Commercial Support:  Independently and proactively supports the growth of the pipeline through development of strategic territory plans, identification of whitespace opportunity and through new ideas for targeting existing and net new clients with new products/solutions

  • Conducts market research on the prioritized accounts through proactive use of data sources, subscriptions and internet sources to identify potential areas for targeting
  • Provides recommendations on how to connect information gathered in research with Optum product sets
  • Conducts white space analysis and identifies top opportunities in each territory for a set solution(s) and/or constituent group. Identifies and maintains information on where clients have competitor products in place
  • Drives and recommends strategies for targeting, product campaigns and initiatives
  • Generates new opportunities
  • Recognized as an extension of the Client Executive/Sales Executive internally and externally
  • Provides a point of view on growth and client strategies
  • Supports the contract process as required and marshals’ resources as necessary around contract completion and execution
  • Fluid in the Optum Story and deep in the suite of products available, who to sell them to, and the value proposition for each product

Client Executive/Sales Executive Operational Support - The strategic partner to their Client Executive/Sales Executive(s) and works collaboratively to drive the day-to-day business activities toward achievement of their quota. Activities include:

  • Works with their Client Executive/Sales Executives to develop a visit plan for each month and assists as necessary in securing visits
  • Connects dots between visit meeting attendees and possible white space products or open pipeline pursuits
  • Maintains a relationship whitespace for each account in the Client Executive/Sales Executive’s territory and creates strategies with the Client Executive/Sales Executive on how to continue to build relationships across an account
  • Facilitates preparation of all background information for important client meetings
  • This may include both internal background intelligence and external meeting materials
  • Project manages around RFPs as necessary. Marshals’ necessary resources
  • Partner and active participant in internal business presentations
  • Leads meetings when Client Executive/Sales Executive is unable to
  • Leverages and maintains internal systems such as Edge and Salesforce for accuracy and data integrity
  • Maintains regular catalog of client overview documents to use for meeting preparation and to circulate among internal teams to share information about clients
  • Actively establishes collaborative relationships across client support teams, business units and other functional areas from which we require positive engagement to achieve quota goal
  • Project manage and hold internal teams accountable for next steps
  • Manages cross-functional projects

Special Department Projects - Proactively takes on special projects across the department.  This may include key initiatives across multiple stakeholders, onboarding new staff, ownership of an ad hoc project, etc.  Serves as a leader in this area and enfranchise peers or other staff as necessary to ensure solid execution of the project.

Subject Matter Expert - Finds opportunities to establish expertise within the role such that he/she becomes a “go-to” among peers, leaders and Client Executive/Sales Executives

  • Stand-in for Client Executive/Sales Executive – Able to step in for the Client Executive/Sales Executive in both internal and external-facing situations if needed.  Seen as an “expert” on his/her set of clients
  • Innovator:  Proactively innovates on existing processes to create an even more efficient and effective work environment that supports value, delivery, and satisfaction for our clients

Required Qualifications:        

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of project management experience, sales, client management, client support or market research experience, preferably in the healthcare market
  • Proven ability to take a proactive approach to problem solving and is resourceful and leverages all possible avenues in finding solutions or completing a project
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
