The Dental Hygienist will provide professional oral health services to the Adult In Custody (AIC) population at FCI Englewood. The role involves clinical procedures, patient education, and administrative duties within a correctional environment, working under the supervision of the staff Dentist or Clinical Director.
$60 - $60 an hour

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care: Perform dental prophylaxis, topical fluoride applications, and subgingival scaling.
Specialized Treatments: Conduct root planing, soft tissue curettage, and prescribed treatments for localized periodontitis.
Procedures: Place temporary fillings, polish restorations, apply sealants, and place/remove rubber dams and sutures.
Patient Assessment: Conduct dental screening examinations and maintain accurate dental and periodontal charting.
Education & Training: Provide dental health counseling to AICs (individually or in groups) and conduct in-service hygiene training for medical staff.
Documentation: Complete timely and legible electronic medical record entries using the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR) system.
Compliance: Adhere to all infection control techniques, Joint Commission standards, and Bureau of Prisons policies.
Qualifications and Requirements
Licensure: A current and valid Colorado state license in dental/oral hygiene.
Experience: A minimum of two years of current experience as a Dental Hygienist.
Certifications:
Current radiology certification.
Current CPR certification.
Security & Background: Must pass a law enforcement agency background check and drug screening.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident seeking citizenship (subject to waiver in rare cases).
References: Must provide three letters of reference from professional peers.
Additional: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Schedule and Working Conditions
Hours: Normally 32 hours per week, consisting of 8-hour sessions, 4 days per week.
Shift: Between 6:00 AM and 4:30 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Environment: Correctional setting requiring frequent contact with the inmate population.
Orientation: Must attend an Institution Familiarization Orientation program prior to starting.
