Field Service Engineer (FSE)
Location: Ohio-Based | 75%+ Travel

Reports To: Senior Manager, Field & Service Programs
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, technically skilled Field Service Engineer to support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service of mission-critical power distribution equipment in data center environments.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working independently in the field, and being part of a collaborative team. You’ll represent the company onsite, ensuring systems perform reliably while building strong customer relationships through professionalism and follow-through.
Installation & Commissioning
- Install and support startup of power distribution systems in data centers
- Support startup and commissioning activities including system verification and functional testing
- Perform system verification, functional testing, and commissioning support
- Configure and troubleshoot HMIs and control interfaces
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose and repair issues involving 3-phase power systems, transformers, high-voltage components, and switchgear/distribution equipment
- Interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
- Perform systematic root-cause troubleshooting in live infrastructure environments
Customer & Team Support
- Serve as the primary technical contact onsite
- Partner with engineering and internal teams to resolve issues effectively
- Train operators and maintenance personnel
- Provide clear, professional communication regarding system status and next steps both verbally and in writing via email and reports
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Complete service reports with technical accuracy and clarity
- Identify recurring issues and provide feedback to improve products and processes
- Track parts usage, labor hours, and service activities and log all activities in our system of record
- Support development of service procedures and technical documentation
- Contribute to training materials and internal knowledge base
- Other duties as assigned.
Required
- 3–7+ years of experience in field service, electrical service, or similar role
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of 24V, 120V, 480V systems; basic PLC troubleshooting; fuses, breakers, and transformers
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Willingness to travel 75%+ (including occasional short-notice travel)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong documentation habits and attention to detail
Preferred
- Experience with data center power infrastructure
- Familiarity with switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, or related equipment
- Commissioning support experience
- OSHA or formal safety training
