Staff Product Designer, Care & Clinical Workflows
This is a mission-critical role: you'll design the core systems that enable our care teams to deliver high-quality, scalable healthcare. Your work directly raises the standard of care for millions of people.
We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to lead care and clinical workflow experiences that enable our care teams to deliver high-quality, consistent, and scalable care. You’ll be a craft-focused design leader: just as comfortable shaping direction in ambiguous spaces as you are driving crisp, high-quality design delivery across multiple teams.
If you love turning messy problem spaces into clear, testable design directions, care about the details of delivery, and get energy from leveling up other designers, this role is for you.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Care & Clinical Workflow Design: Own critical workflows used by Member Care Advocates, clinicians, and care teams, ensuring they are intuitive, efficient, and clinically safe, translating needs into clear, testable design directions that teams and stakeholders can rally around.
- Develop innovative, system-level concepts that drive the product experience end to end, ensuring workflows feel seamless and anticipate needs beyond the immediate use cases in scope.
- Set and uphold a high bar for design craft across flows, edge cases, states, and interaction details.
- Define what “good” looks like for AI-assisted design at Included Health, balancing speed with quality, safety, and clarity.
- Pioneer the use of AI tools to accelerate prototyping, concepting, and systems work. This role is responsible for setting the gold standard for AI-assisted design, balancing speed with safety and clarity sharing repeatable patterns, frameworks and workflows that others adopt.
- Extend, maintain, and evolve design systems that support care and clinical workflows (components, patterns, interaction models, and documentation).
- Mentor other designers working in care and clinical spaces—shaping their approach to problem-solving, systems thinking, and delivery quality.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years as a Product Designer, with experience designing complex internal tools, care delivery platforms, or operational workflows.
- Portfolio of work showcasing proven track record delivering high-quality, shipped work that improved workflow efficiency, quality, or reliability for internal users.
- Experience creating or stewarding design systems that are widely adopted by designers and engineers.
- Curiosity about and hands-on experience with AI-powered design and development tools, and a point of view on when and how to use them effectively.
- Strong, empathetic collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, Clinical, and Operations partners.
- Ability to drive alignment, make tradeoffs explicit, and advocate for design quality in a way that builds trust.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you can distill complex workflows and clinical logic into simple narratives, diagrams, and decisions.
- Comfortable presenting work and rationale to cross-functional partners and senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare, clinical operations, or other regulated domains.
- Experience working in care delivery, care management, or clinical decision support environments.
If you’re excited about shaping the future of care delivery by combining high-quality design craft, strong systems thinking, and better ways of working, we’d love to hear from you.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
- Capability to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
- Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate keyboard, computer and other office-related equipment.
- No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs of force (e.g., lifting a computer \/ laptop) may be required.
- Capability to work with leadership, employees, and members in an appropriate manner.
