Temporary Electoral Organizer
ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Rhode Island Working Families Party seeks a temporary, part-time Electoral Organizer to assist recruitment of WFP-aligned candidates for state and local offices, candidate campaign support and development, candidate campaign strategy.
The Electoral Organizer will add capacity to the Rhode Island WFP team at this critical time, enabling deeper reach and closer coordination with electoral strategy partners. The Electoral Organizer will focus their recruitment on Providence, but may be asked to assist in other communities in Rhode Island. Working with the rest of the RI WFP team, the Electoral Organizer will help enable and set the Party up for a strong summer campaign season and provide additional capacity and support for WFP-endorsed candidates before and after campaign launch.
This is part-time (up to 20 hours per week), and can be performed remotely with occasional in-person meetings in or close to Providence, RI. An in-person office space is available if needed or preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate candidate recruitment activities in Providence, in close coordination with state director and local partners

Reach out directly to identified candidate leads to assess interest, fit, and viability

Coordinate Providence-specific research needs with Data Drivers team, and support Data Drivers in completing district profiles for priority districts

Utilize data and research from WFP and Data Drivers to better understand priority district demographics, voting trends, and share those findings with relevant volunteers and partners

Attend and contribute to regular check-ins with WFP and the statewide candidate recruitment team

After candidates are identified, assess their training, support, and capacity needs and community those to RI WFP

Work with State Director and Senior Organizer to develop and provide training and support infrastructure for candidates and their campaigns

Maintain appropriate documentation of work and track progress along the way

Work with Senior Organizer and State Director to effectively utilize local and statewide communications tools, including emails, in-person communication opportunities such as membership meetings, and text messaging

In close coordination with State Director, Senior Organizer, Regional Director and other core partners such as the State Committee, support the development and implementation of statewide electoral strategy

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Clear understanding of the role of state and local elected officials, and what would make a viable WFP-aligned candidate

At least some experience with political or community organizing as well as electoral campaigns

Clear communication skills, including ability to listen

Ability to manage and contribute to clear record-keeping, including but not limited to the Google suite of tools (docs, sheets, etc.)

Discretion and good judgment
COMPENSATION
- This is a part-time position at an hourly rate of $30 per hour.
- This position ends on September 15, 2026
LOCATION AND TRAVEL
- This is a remote role with occasional in-person meetings in or close to Providence, RI.
- An in-person office space is available if needed or preferred.

- WFP is a unionized workplace. This is a short term temporary role that is not eligible for inclusion in WFP’s staff bargaining unit. WFP's union employees are represented by the New York Metropolitan Area Joint Board, Workers United union.
