We are hiring a Senior Manager to advance the mobile app for North America. This role oversees teams developing Connected Car features through the mobile app and integrating it into Mercedes’ end-to-end experience. The candidate will build on a highly rated application and expand its capabilities to meet business goals. In this role, you will be managing a large team with diverse responsibilities. A successful candidate will learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that the team delivers on the expectations established internally and with partners across the globe, all the
while looking to improve processes, tools, and growing people. As part of this expectation, this leader will utilize the team's local-market expertise to formulate and propose changes needed within our infotainment and connected car domains to best meet the changing needs of the North American customer.
All teams within our business unit interact and collaborate with development teams in various US locations, India, Germany, and China.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the mobile app software development team within MBRDNA’s Infotainment & AI business unit.
- Oversee end-to-end product launches and ongoing improvements for the mobile app focused on North American customers together with sales colleagues, aligning product vision and roadmap to user needs.
- Advocate for customer needs while collaborating across teams and ensuring operational support for live app versions.
- Lead app development, maintenance, support, and testing for connected car applications with high transaction volume and uptime; participate in a 24/7 global on-call rotation.
- Guide the team in delivering reliable user experiences tailored to North America, including integration and validation of features such as integration with Sales and AfterSales functions (e.g. appointment booking).
- Ensure vehicle-cloud connectivity by understanding all relevant components and field operations.
- Review project plans, validate resources, identify risks, guide mitigation, and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Deliver data-driven engineering reports with clear summaries for management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of User Experience, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in high-tech or automotive environment.
- Proven track record of leading teams, providing mentorship, and enabling personal development of key individuals.
- Proven track record of managing team financials towards organizational goals.
- Strong knowledge of automotive industry including ecosystem, manufacturing processes, as well as modern software development.
- Experience leading teams or projects in infotainment, cloud services, connected vehicle technologies, or other related software fields.
- Experience with agile collaboration (e.g., Scrum) and managing distributed development, integration, and release processes.
- Willingness to travel 20% internationally and domestically, including overnight/weekend trips.
- Commitment to high quality and performance standards for self and team.
- Strong technical knowledge of electronic systems.
- Teamwork and leadership skills, including team organization, mentoring, and progressive management emphasizing openness and shared goals.
- Application development and delivery on embedded and cloud platforms.
- This role involves frequent communication, computer use, and presentations, which require regular use of speech, vision, hearing, and hands. The position also includes periods of sitting, standing, and reaching as part of daily activities.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to test drive vehicles and pass Mercedes-Benz driver certification that evaluates the driver’s control of the vehicle dynamics under challenging conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Automotive OEM or Tier1 supplier work experience.
- Experience leading/managing teams, developing strategies, execution of projects.
- Experience with embedded software and automotive solutions.
