We are looking for a motivated, highly enthusiastic Software Engineer Intern to join our Discovery, Research & Catalog (DRC) Engineering team. This team is responsible for the top of the funnel experiences across the stockx.com and native iOS and Android applications, as well as the growth and support of our product catalog at StockX. We build resilient, distributed applications that scale seamlessly with our business growth.
Our technical stack comprises various systems and services built on Amazon Web Services. On the front end, we use modern Javascript (ES6), Typescript, React, and Next.js. On the backend, we use GoLang, Node.js, Typescript, restful APIs, GraphQL, CircleCI, Harness, Kubernetes, Kafka, DynamoDB, and Aurora DB (Postgres).
What you'll do
- Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs written in GoLang and Node.js
- Work with product owners, designers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, make technical recommendations, and independently build, deploy, and monitor resilient solutions.
- Collaborate with engineers on the team to take these proposed solutions and architect and design them.
- Propose and adopt best engineering practices and guide development standards.
- Foster a growth mindset culture. Be a team player.
- Apply considerations around security, scalability, reliability, and performance while proposing and building solutions.
- Use sound technical judgment to consider technology alternatives, impact on affected and adjacent systems, and design choice tradeoffs.
- Provide timely communication to stakeholders and users for resolving issues.
- Learn from a team of experienced professionals.
About you
- Pursuing an engineering degree or equivalent related experience/training.
- Experience working with GoLang or Node.js to build scalable APIs that communicate to databases.
- Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to document new features, additions, and bug fixes clearly.
- Experience with testing strategies, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excited to work in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
- A strong desire to learn, explore, and acquire knowledge and skills, both within and outside of your primary domain.
Nice to have skills
- Experience working with observability services (Datadog, Splunk, New Relic)
- Experience working with AWS or another equivalent cloud provider (Azure, GCP, etc).
- Experience with Postgres, Redis, or DynamoDB
- Experience with event-based architectures and an understanding of how to successfully use them with Kafka, SNS, SQS, or other related services.
- Experience working with Javascript (ES6, Typescript, React, HTML, CSS) and state management in a modern browser environment
