As our business looks forward and drives innovation throughout our market leading technical solutions, we look to engage a committed, full time, Application Support Engineer to work within our talented team in our National Head Office, South Melbourne.

This is a 12-month maximum term contract, full-time and hybrid role, working from home and the office.

The role: 

As an Application Support Engineer, you will provide Level 2/3 production support across our SaaS platforms and road safety systems, helping keep critical applications stable, secure and performing to SLA commitments. We are looking for someone calm under pressure, strong in troubleshooting, and confident working across Java enterprise applications, Oracle databases and integration-heavy systems. You will work closely with engineering, product and operations teams to resolve incidents, support controlled production changes, deliver small enhancements and reduce repeat issues. Shape the future of road safety by supporting solutions that save lives.

As an Application Support Engineer at Verra Mobility you will work on:

  • Managing production Incident across complex production systems, including triage, investigation, escalation, and resolution.
  • Performing root cause analysis and problem management to reduce recurring incidents.
  • Troubleshooting Java/J2EE enterprise applications across application, middleware, JVM, database and integration layers.
  • Oracle database support using advanced SQL and PL/SQL fundamentals.
  • Integration support across REST APIs, batch jobs and messaging components.
  • Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python or Bash.
  • Supporting small production fixes and controlled enhancements through established change and release processes.
  • Supporting security patching and remediation activities in collaboration with engineering and infrastructure teams
  • Documentation and knowledge sharing through runbooks, support articles and service records
  • On-call and after-hours support as required.

Who are you?

You have 5+ years of experience in application support or software development, ideally supporting critical systems in SLA-driven environments. You bring strong troubleshooting capability across Java/J2EE applications, Oracle databases and multi-tier systems, along with a disciplined approach to incident response, change control and operational support.

You are comfortable reading logs, analysing application behaviour, writing scripts for automation, and making small, controlled fixes or enhancements in production environments. You communicate clearly, work well with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and stay methodical when issues are complex or time critical. Exposure to Linux or Unix environments will be highly regarded.
