Industrial Wastewater Technical Manager

In this role, you will collaborate with our team to develop, design, and deliver various industrial water/wastewater projects across the U.S.

In response to our need for growth, Woodard & Curran offers a unique opportunity to support technical delivery and leadership in our Industrial Water Practice, which provides high-quality engineering and design services to industrial and commercial clients throughout the U.S. The selected candidate will have technical experience to lead water and wastewater system designs while providing mentorship to a talented team of engineers. Woodard & Curran is seeking a motivated professional with an entrepreneurial spirit, a demonstrated focus on industrial clients and safe practices, and a passion for innovation and technical excellence in the industrial water/wastewater field. The position requires a strong communicator with the demonstrated ability to develop, lead, and mentor project teams.
Location: Nationwide search
Office Preference: Remote/Virtual
Travel: Up to 25% within the continental US
Just to name a few, projects may include:
- Capacity assessments, alternatives evaluations, basis of design development
- Bench and pilot-scale testing
- Water/wastewater treatment system upgrades
- New water/wastewater treatment system designs
- On-site commissioning and start-up
- Water Reuse
What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:

- A Technical Manager is responsible for staying at the forefront of technical approaches in their field of expertise and contributing both innovation and project delivery within the areas where the expertise applies.
- Specific areas of focus include: Provide technical leadership to staff in the Industrial Water/Wastewater Business, with specific focus on the Industrial Water/Wastewater Practice.
- Experience in the Pharmaceutical/Chemical, Food & Beverage, and/or Data Center markets is preferred but not essential.
- Develop and maintain client-advisor relationships that lead to business and repeat business for the firm.
- Assist and or lead on proposal preparation and pursuit of new client and project opportunities.
- Contribute to new and existing Large Account development and management.
- Make national and regional-level technical publications & presentations and serve in professional technical leadership positions in outside organizations.
- Conduct research and innovate within project opportunities to implement new and improved methods to execute solutions for our work.
- Develop and lead the development of tools to assist in demonstrating Woodard & Curran’s technical leadership.
- Ensure the technical quality of the work product delivered.
- Mentor staff in technical skill areas.
What You Will Need To Succeed:
- M.S. (P.E. or other certification/advanced degree preferred) in Engineering.
- 10 - 15 years of professional experience with an engineering consulting firm.
- Demonstrated experience serving industrial clients.
- Strong appreciation of and commitment to safe work practices is mandatory
- Background in biological wastewater treatment and design.
- Industrial client engineering and/or design-build expertise, preferably in the food and beverage, pharmaceutical/chemical, data center, life sciences, and/or consumer products markets.
- Strong written and verbal skills and demonstrated track record of publishing technical work
This role has the option for remote work, and the anticipated pay range is flexible, depending on factors such as the employee's primary work location, skills, experience, and education. The following examples illustrate how the pay range for the same role can vary based on different locations.
Group A (MT, ME, FL) = $110,000 - $130,000
Group B (PA, Northampton, MA, MO, GA, RI) = $120,000 - $145,000
Group C (CO, CT, NJ, MA, CA, NY) = $135,000 - $175,000
This position’s anticipated pay range is provided; the final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will depend on experience level and consider a percentage-based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials recognize and reflect the cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
