This is a senior leadership opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to oversee the full spectrum of financial and administrative operations. As Controller, you will be the financial steward of a complex, multi-funded organisation — managing over 105 active grants, a dedicated finance team, annual audit obligations, and a broad mandate that spans budgeting, payroll, compliance and internal controls. This is a senior leadership opportunity offering a competitive package, a wide-ranging remit, and the chance to play a central role in a purpose-driven organisation. Submit monthly financial statements across all programmes to leadership and programme directors. Compile and submit required financial reports to government agencies. Manage the annual single audit process from preparation through to completion. Lead the annual budgeting process; monitor actual performance against budgets and recommend modifications where necessary. Provide management with analysis and guidance on financial and legal trends that may impact the organisation. Payroll, Controls & Asset Protection Oversee payroll preparation, allocations, and all associated reporting including W-2s, W-3s, 1099s, 1096s, Federal 941s and state unemployment tax reports. Allocate employee insurance, workers' compensation, unemployment tax and other benefit-related costs. Establish and maintain adequate internal controls, auditing procedures and asset inventory to protect organisational assets. Ensure appropriate insurance coverage is in place at all times. Team Leadership Manage and develop a finance team of five direct reports. Consult with senior leadership on any financial, legal or operational matters affecting the organisation. Periodically review and recommend revisions to the Accounting Procedures Manual. Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, with education in fund accounting. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in an accounting or financial management role. Hands-on experience with annual audit preparation and management. Strong working knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles. Proficiency with financial accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in tribal government, public sector, higher education or a similarly grant-intensive environment.
